Best place in Jersey

So, we have Alfie, our Beagle pup..

Now, I am a Bean so have lived here all of my nearly 25 years (April 14th - in case you want to send me a card!) so have been around most of the Island.

It's funny how when you walk on the beach alone, no one speaks to you, then, as soon as you have a dog, people stop you to talk, to say hi or to pass a comment on the weather.

Jersey's fab, I am really appreciating it more now as an adult. I think as a child you don't realise how brill it is here.

One thing that I found so annoying when I stood for Deputy was how negative people are about Jersey - OK, so we aren't perfect and to be honest - we never will be!

When are islanders going to see that we need to appreciate the place more and stop moaning about EVERYTHING!..

I really admire a friend of mine who wrote a satirical letter to the JEP the other night about living in large houses - so many people have taken his letter seriously - does anyone get irony anymore?

There is GST, we have it - let's deal with it - stop going on about it!

My suggestion is - GO FOR A BEACH WALK!... get a dog and relax... crikey some folk over here are so highly strung!... If we work together we will have a much better life.

Matthew Robins; I applaud your letter in the JEP - good on you - People: GET IT... Grrrr

If I could afford a big house - I would have one - :0)

Till later - chao x

P.s... Am I too kissy?

The importance of family

I have just spent a wonderful evening round at my mum and dad's house.

It makes me think how lucky I am to have a family who enjoy spending time together.

My dad and I played music together for the first hour. Dad plays Alto sax and me on my trumpet. We listen to songs we love and transpose them for our instruments.

A while back, when I was younger, we used to do this and I would think nothing of it. Now though as an adult, I really enjoy this time, it is so important to me.

A friend, Roxy Sue, just died the other day and my Grandma described death as "Walking through a door" rather than "gone". But it has made me sit up and think...

When do you ever spend enough time with someone you love for it to be ... enough?

When can you say, "yes I have made the most of this?".. I just don't know.

The shock of Sue dying makes me really hope that I tell people I love them enough, that I make the most of everything, that I don't hurt people....

Question is.. does anyone succeed?

Maybe I am at that age now (25!!!) where I contemplate things deeply. Who knows?

At the end of the day I have learnt that as long as you are happy and you follow your heart you will be OK....

Tip for the day... Tell that special someone you love them

Sleep well x

The day after the night before...

So after all the excitement of my first Blog, I guess I have to become professional now?

I happily went to bed at around 11pm last night knowing very well that I had an early start today. I fell asleep perfectly fine, but wow then ...

BASH..... that's the only way I can explain it.

No, no one had broken in, I wasn't hurt, but I was totally confused.

I was woken by my own brain... OK, sounds a little daft, but it's true!

I had this crazy flood of clever thoughts running around my head that just wouldn't allow me to sleep.

Now this may have something to do with the fact that I am Mbarking (ha see what I did there!) on a very exciting new adventure with work soon, or I may have had some cheese before bed!

No cheese, (because you know about the diet thing - (oh I've lost 5 lbs in just over a week by the way! - whoop me!)

Then, I get up, let the puppy out for his enormous wee this morning that I thought would never end, made a cuppa and started work.

I think to myself - well, 7 hours of fabulous ideas and strategies and plans - I will be here all morning. Alas, no!

I get to my screen, I start to type - some good things come out, but nothing wow enough to explain my LACK OF SLEEP!

I am not a grumpy girl without sleep, but I am quite ugly without it so - look out Clarins, you are covering my face today - so thick I should be in the West End!

For now, this sleepy girl is signing off

Till later.....

My first Blog

Well, hello!

This is a first for me, I have never written a Blog before which is pretty shocking considering I am nearly 25 years old.

Having considered it for a while now, I am here.. and quite nervous I have to say...

What is the right thing to write? what's interesting to people??

I have read people's Blogs, any of which are filled with clap trap that doesn't really have much filling (as in a tasty sandwich!)

So, I will treat my new blog as a delicious cake (this is because I am on a diet and can't thing of anything else!):

It will be filled with tasty stuff
Unnecessary ingredients; not welcome
It will be fattening and totally bad for you
But you will love it!

Any suggestions are welcome!

Thank you for reading my first blog!... here's to us making beautiful blogging history together..
